To Bring Back Chin Peng.....
The war against the communists was over with the signing of the Haadyai Treaty. Now Chin Peng is dead. The government is against him being buried here. To me, it doesn't matter where he is buried. My father was a policeman during those confrontational times. Many of his friends died. Many of our soldiers died too when they were fighting against them in the jungles. Many were also disabled from the mines left by them in the jungles.
To these people and their families, bringing back Chin Peng is like opening an old wound. The younger generations do not know Chin Peng other than from the history books. It is easy to say let the bygones be bygones when we are not the ones who are inflicted by the horrendous actions of this man. Some of us have forgotten what this man had done to our country. To glorify him by making his wish comes true is like giving a standing ovation to him.
Let the bygones be bygones. Let Chin Peng rests in peace wherever he died.
